This film is a stop motion that documents a little over four months of a girl’s life. Living at the Jersey Shore, March to early June in 2009. I took these pictures as part of a 365 Photography project, after purchasing my first SLR digital camera. I started the project on that day. I paired it to Jason Mraz’s song “Beautiful Mess” because I was listening to this song a lot, and I really just love the song and what he says. I rely on it.
The film ends with me moving out of the beach house for the summer rentals.
How bitter sweet.
My inspiration for this was to find a purpose for all of the out takes from the project itself. Which you can view here.
My house portrayed in this film was recently devastated by Hurricane Sandy. It remains standing, although the inside is completely gone. The years of my life spent living down there I hold so close to my heart. Having this specific winter capsulated just feels therapeutic.
My life consisted mostly of working at a local restaurant in point pleasant, hanging out with friends, going out in seaside. moving slowly but purposefully. there was also a freaky warm april which gave us 80 degree beach weather.
I hope you enjoy & possibly recognize some sights.
peace & love, ashley
