when ourbklyn began in 2010, i had planned for it to largely consist of home decor and apartment improvement/apartment living. as i began to feel less proud of what i was doing inside (read: nothing ever felt finished) i shyed away from sharing our home online. then we moved, then things became more of a mess, then we had roomies in and out, then it was just us.
i have been working hard on making what we have work. 95% of our home is made up of hand me downs, curb finds and heirlooms. i’m not saying this doesn’t make me happy, but i always felt like i was faking it until i made it. well – i’m reaching a point where i feel safe in our apartment (read: i’m not in a room thinking i still need to do this that and the other thing, getting overwhelmed.)
we had a few girls in and out this past week, slumber party extreme – which left the place a bit frazzled. joe and i were wiping, vacuuming and straightening until 9:30 last night. afterward, before we sat down to dinner, i took a look and loved it. so i instagrammed it. and got sweet feedback, which made me feel happy and approved of (isn’t that what social media is for?)
i have a few huge projects in the pipeline, so get ready for more of where this came from, and an eventual apartment tour!
